SUMMARY:Grizzly Peak Sunset Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join us on a hike to Grizzly Peak to watch the sunset at nearly 6\,000 feet guided by our interpretive ranger.\n\n\nWe will meet at 6:45 PM at the CVS in Ashland located at 2341 Ashland Street\, and make our way into the Monument from there. Carpooling is optional but recommended. \nJoin Interpretive Ranger\, Allie\, as she leads us on a hike to Grizzly Peak to enjoy watching the sunset at nearly 6\,000 feet. \nThis is a moderate difficulty hike that is around 5 miles in length with almost 1\,000 feet in elevation gain. Sarah will share reflections on her recent time in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument as part of FCSNM’s Cascade-Siskiyou Creations: Arts and Advocacy program. The talk can be attended on its own\, but if you plan to join the Saturday workshop it is highly recommended. \nThe Friday Hike and Learn sessions will take place in the Ashland Food Co-op Community Classroom at 300 N. Pioneer in Ashland from 6:00 to 7:30pm. The classroom is one block toward downtown from the grocery store on N 1st Street. Carpooling is optional. \nJoin Bureau of Land Management Rangers as they guide free kayaking tours on Hyatt Lake in the heart of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. The tours will take place from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on May 31 and June 7. This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in kayaking and exploring the unique ecology of Hyatt Lake\, as well as its importance to local communities. Each tour allows for 10 participants with no prior kayaking experience necessary\, and you won’t need to bring any special equipment—just sun protection and clothes that you don’t mind getting wet! Participants must be aged 12 and up. Don’t miss out on this chance to enjoy the beauty of nature while learning something new! DESCRIPTION:Learn to document rare and invasive plants in the Monument  using iNaturalist\, featuring biological illustrator and Artist-in-Residence\n\n\nBLM and Friends of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument are calling all citizen scientists to join Project MARIPOSA (Monument Assessment of Rare and Invasive Plant Occupancy in Sensitive Areas). \nJoin specialists from BLM as they introduce Project MARIPOSA and teach you how to use iNaturalist to document rare native plants and invasive species across the monument. Your contributions will be reviewed by scientists and included in an official database used to protect rare plants and manage invasive species throughout Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument.
