SUMMARY:Dragonflies of the Monument - Friday Night Talk
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the natural history and diversity of dragonflies found in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument.\n\n\nOdonata is an incredible group of insects that is made up of Dragonflies\, Damselflies\, and their relatives. On Friday Max will discuss Odonate natural history and diversity. He will also give an overview of the common species in Southwestern Oregon and their seasonality. \nMax McClarnon is a Southern Oregon University Graduate with a BS in Biology. He has spent his career working with a variety of wildlife including salamanders\, owls\, and deer. He is currently with Yosemite National Park Service monitoring Northwestern Pond Turtle populations. In recent years he has become intrigued by dragonflies and likes to share his knowledge of them. \nThe Friday Hike and Learn sessions will take place in the Ashland Food Co-op Community Classroom at 300 N. Pioneer in Ashland from 6:00 to 7:30pm. The classroom is one block toward downtown from the grocery store on N 1st Street. This Eventbrite is for the Friday Talk ONLY\, register for Saturday Excursion HERE. DESCRIPTION:Join us on a hike to in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument to enjoy a view of the setting sun with our interpretive rangers.\n\n\nWe will meet at 7:00 PMM at the CVS in Ashland located at 2341 Ashland Street\, and make our way into the Monument from there. Carpooling is optional but recommended. \nJoin Interpretive Rangers\, Allie and Salix\, as they lead us on a hike to watch the sunset on the Greensprings Mountain Loop Trail. SUMMARY:National Public Lands Day: Trail Work at Buck Rock Tunnel
DESCRIPTION:Help improve trail signage at Buck Rock tunnel for National Public Lands Day. No experience needed\, tools and guidance provided by BLM.\n\n\nWe will meet at 9:00 AM at the CVS in Ashland and make our way into the Monument from there. Carpooling is optional. \nJoin us for a National Public Lands Day of service at one of the Monument’s most storied spots: the Buck Rock tunnel trail system. This year\, volunteers will help improve navigational signage along the trail\, making it easier for visitors to explore the tunnel\, its history\, and the surrounding landscape. \nNo prior experience needed. Just bring your enthusiasm\, a willingness to get your hands a little dirty\, and a love for public lands. The BLM will provide tools\, safety equipment\, and guidance. Please wear closed-toed shoes and long pants\, and bring water and snacks or lunch (some snacks and drinks will be provided). \nDetails on the day’s activities will be shared with registered volunteers.
