Sun exposure prints in the Monument – Workshop

Join Artist-in-Residence, Chava Florendo, for a workshop exploring sun exposure prints in nature using cyanotype and mixed media.

This is a family-friendly event. Snacks, drinks, and all supplies will be provided.

Chava Florendo (Ashland) is a Wasco/Filipina/multiracial photographer, multidisciplinary artist, performer, facilitator, and educator residing in Southern Oregon. She draws on her Wasco roots and the teachings, stories, and art of her adwai grandmother, Alice Florendo, and her other incredibly talented family members to facilitate art and cultural opportunities for Indigenous youth and artists all across Oregon and the states. Additionally, Chava was a Fields Fellow 2024-26, created the Indigenous Youth Digital Collective, sang for “How Can You Own the Sky?” with several symphonies, performed Off-Broadway in the Native American musical Distant Thunder, supported the Indigenous Writers Collaborative, and curated the Visual Sovereignty Project with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

The Friends of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument’s mission is to support the protection, restoration and conservation of the Monument through service, advocacy and education. Our Hike and Learn programs are designed to introduce the public to different topics and locations within the Monument. Hike and Learns are co-created with local scientists, historians, artists, students, and more.
