Plein Air Sketching Workshop with Sarah Burns

Go on a sketching adventure in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument and explore plein air art techniques.

We will meet at 9:00 AM at the CVS (formerly Rite Aid) in Ashland and make our way into the Monument from there.

Sarah will lead a group of artists on a sketching adventure in the Monument. Use your favorite materials, it can be as simple as a pencil or you can bring your favorite paints. Registrants will receive a suggested materials list.

If you are attending the workshop, please also plan on attending Sarah’s talk on Friday night which will provide an introduction to plein air art techniques.

Sarah F. Burns is a classically trained artist who makes observation-based oil paintings inspired by science, nature, personal history, art history. With over two decades of experience, Sarah helps art students of all ages and media engage with classical art principles in a rigorous and fun way. This program is presented in parternship with the Conservation Lands Foundation through their Art & Advocacy Program.

The Friends of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument’s mission is to support the protection, restoration and conservation of the Monument through service, advocacy and education. Our Hike and Learn programs are designed to introduce the public to different topics and locations within the Monument. Hike and Learns are co-created with local scientists, historians, artists, students, and more.
